我差不多是在第一时间听了这张专辑的，没有在第一时间写评论。人家花了这么久整出一张专辑，我们也得多听几遍再说话是吧。

不过老实说还是因为第一遍没听出多少感觉。coldplay在自我改变、转型。从最早放出的《Violet Hill》就能听出这种不同。

我没法说我不怀念前三张专辑的coldplay。但任何一个伟大的乐队都不能放弃尝试，在鲜花和掌声中淹溺自己。

整张专辑的风格和封面是统一的。主题从个人情感转向战争、死亡、信仰等深沉话题。

这并不是一个多么讨人喜欢的决定。而且略显别扭和笨拙。比如在《Lovers In Japan》和《Violet Hill》这样名字的歌里听到“soldier”，以及其他歌里不断出现死亡和宗教词汇。

我甚至怀疑他们为主题统一改了歌词。这就好比命题作文，框了个范围，写着写着写偏了就加几句拉回来。尽管coldplay的歌名和歌词总是费解，但是我从没像这次困惑。

我想以前是因为旋律和编曲蒙混过去了，像《The Scientist》和《Swallowed In The Sea》这样动人的歌，何必太在乎精确含义。那些模糊的私人情感表达因此越发美丽。严肃的话题却是另一回事，词不达意有时会显得无病呻吟。

coldplay这回在曲式上似乎有所突破。典型如《42》，一开始我还以为又是一首《Fix You》，后来曲风一转……一时不大适应。但这是一首好歌。“42”是《银河系漫游指南》中生命、宇宙、万物的终极答案。

还有《Yes》和《Death And All His Friends》，不过严格说他们都属于后面有hidden track的（谁能告诉我那首《Chinese Sleep Chant》是什么……）。但曲式方面我没有特殊偏好，毕竟又没人指望他们创作出《Bohimian Rhapsody》这种。

编曲方面coldplay做了更多创新和尝试。节奏更强烈，无论《Lost!》、《Violet Hill》还是《42》后半段都是如此。引入了我不知名的音效和乐器，比如《Yes》。应用了不少背景人声，《Cemeteries Of London》和《Death And All His Friends》。最出色的个人以为还是《Viva La Vida》的弦乐效果。

有没有人和我一样怀念简单钢琴伴奏的？因为我听了《Lost!》和《Lovers In Japan》的acoustic版，直接在iTunes的评价里比原版多加一颗星。好好的歌弄那么复杂做什么……我原先听的时候觉得两首歌开头部分的歌词都写得真烂，听后者就觉得其实还好嘛。

前面说一个成功的乐队就要不断的尝试、创新。上个世纪90年代U2的风格改变评价并不高，但他们保持了活力。我尊重coldplay的改变尝试——虽然他们居然变得有点U2，我也想念原来coldplay。就让我们一起期待他们下一张专辑吧。

coldplay的最新专辑，新到是6月3日刚刚发行的。学校的FTP上当天就可以下载到，看了一下创建时间居然是5月31日，可见网络之发达。

coldplay是罕见的到目前为止每张专辑都被我奉为经典的乐队。他们的第一张正式专辑《Parachutes》当即宣告Brit Pop新掌门人诞生，狂扫全球。酝酿了一段时间后推出的第二张专辑《A Rush Of Blood To The Head》，非但水平没有下降，反而还有超越的趋势，重掀高潮。

时隔两年半，他们推出了这张费时一年半制作的《X&Y》，并声称比以往任何一张都更出色。换作别人（oasis也声称新专辑《Don"t Believe The Truth》是他们有史以来最好的一张）我大概不信，但放在coldplay身上，不由得你不信。

单曲《Speed Of Sound》是一首平常的歌曲，并没有惊喜之处。然而专辑即将发行之际，仍旧引起全球瞩目，歌迷期望日渐高涨。EMI今年的业绩也得完全靠它。

期望高是件比较恐怖的事情，因为太容易失望。在我心中，《Parachutes》是经典，《A Rush Of Blood To The Head》比第一张更好。还能有更好的吗？……

果然没令我失望。《X&Y》不逊色于以往任何一张专辑。除了曲风更加纯熟，歌声依旧柔美，歌词的深度和广度也远胜以往。他们正在走向创作巅峰，尽管Martin声称这张专辑“可能再也做不出来了”。

我只希望他们不要为频繁的商业活动所扰，每隔几年时间，将感悟和灵感自然而然地倾诉。我总愿意聆听。
